I have realized that cutting out the negativity and toxic people out of my life and replacing them with positivity and happiness is so important. For a very long time, I always had a negative mindset and I’d always be upset for silly reasons or for no reason at all. I was affected by every little action anyone did. I had an anger boiling inside of me, ready to burst any minute and there was no one around me to help me understand it, at that point of time. I kept the anger bottled inside of me.
I finally decided to go for counselling because I needed someone to listen to me. I needed someone to be there, to help me understand what was going on within me and how can I could calm the turmoil within me. I needed help. I needed to stop feeling affected by anyone or anything.
My counselor has been my mentor and guide, my encouragement, my strength, my motivation, basically everything. She has known me from quite some time now. She knew and understood every pattern of my behavior and I thank her for who I am today. I feel like a different person because of her guidance. I feel calm and happy.
I wish more people would know that they don’t need to keep that anger bottled up inside of them. Not just anger, but whatever it is, talk to someone. If someone is not around, keep a journal with you. Write your feelings down. If you are feeling sad about your best friend not giving you any attention, write it down or talk to your best friend. Sometimes the things which you cannot say out loud, you can always write it down in your journal.
Our brain is like our heart, it is sensitive. It needs care too. Thinking about something which won’t be important 10 or 20 years from now is worthless. If you feel like you’re overthinking about something, distract your mind. Go for walk with your favorite music on, cook yourself a delicious snack, paint or color a mind mandala. Basically, do anything that works for you and would help you relax your mind.
Things I do that help me?
I go out for a walk, leaving my phone behind. Of course, I inform when I am going out for my solitary walks. I listen to my favorite music and stay away from social media apps. I try to not interact with anyone and just take that moment to spend time with myself. This makes a great distraction. Refreshes my mind and helps me clear the clutter of my negative thoughts.
I suggest, try this for a week. It has helped me, might help you. And if all else doesn’t work, see a counsellor.
