Our participants for our 6th Workshop on “Career Guidance” were a very lively and energetic bunch of students. One was a Masters in Management Studies (MMS) graduate from HK Institute of Management Studies and Research (HKIMSR) looking for jobs in the field of Finance, another was a student of Media, pursuing a degree in (BMS) Bachelors of Media Studies from (DGMC) Deviprasad Goenka Management College Of Media Studies and our last participant was a student of Bachelors in Commerce (B.Com) from (KC) Kishinchand Chellaram College. Each of them from diverse fields of study, yet all three of them surprisingly had a similar motive to attend this workshop.
Their Purpose of attending the workshop:
- Student 1: “I Don’t know where I fit”
- Student 2: “I want to know more about myself. Understand my strengths and weaknesses”
- Student 3: “In spite of being in a college, I am still unsure of where I see myself after the completion of the course”
Often there is a huge gap between children, their aspirations, their clear motive to pursue a career, or just clarity on who they really are and what they are really good at. Through this workshop on ‘Career Guidance: Identify and Remove Self-Defeating Mental Blocks towards Education and Career’ we did activities that ushered introspective thinking amongst each participant. Each student were given equal opportunity to voice their concerns and resolve their self-doubts. Each participant took inspiration from the other and felt they were not alone as every student opened up about their fears, aspirations, hopes and desires. At the end I can say, every student at the end of my workshop walked out feeling a little more confident, happy, focused, and sure did attain the clarity they had come looking for.
Note:
The Intake of our workshops are very limited. I believe in giving each participant focused and equal attention. We believe in striving for quality and not quantity.
