Counsellor & Well Being Facilitator
I often meet individuals who are outwardly come across as doing ‘just fine’ but are internally struggling with patterns they cannot fully explain. Many describe their childhood as normal and may not initially consider early experiences relevant to their current difficulties. At times, however, subtle experiences such as emotional neglect, inconsistent support, or feeling responsible for others at a young age can shape how someone approaches closeness, conflict, or self-worth later in life. This may show up as over-functioning in relationships, difficulty expressing needs. These patterns are not signs of weakness. They are often adaptive responses formed early on. Counselling with Serene Hour provides you a space to understand these responses with clarity and explore healthier ways of responding.
Childhood is a formative period in a person’s life. Experiences during these early years can shape how we understand ourselves, relate to others, and respond to stress. Childhood trauma is often associated with adverse experiences such as violence, neglect, or instability. However, it can also relate to more subtle patterns for example, when emotional needs were consistently overlooked, if affection felt conditional, or when a child learned to stay quiet, or self-reliant in order to cope. Many adults do not identify their childhood as “traumatic.” Some describe it as normal, or struggle to recall much detail. Yet they may notice patterns in adulthood such as persistent anxiety, difficulty trusting others, people-pleasing, or feeling emotionally disconnected despite outward success. Early experiences do not define a person. However, they can influence how emotions are managed, how relationships feel, and how safe the world appears. Counselling can provide space to gently explore these patterns and understand where they may have begun.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
It is common for adults to have limited or unclear memories of early experiences. Counselling does not rely on recalling events in detail. Often, current patterns in relationships, emotional responses, and self-perception provide meaningful insight. The focus remains on what feels relevant to you now, rather than reconstructing the past.
No. The focus is less on the severity of events and more on how early experiences may still influence your relationships, emotional responses, or sense of self today.
Serene Hour does not provide crisis or emergency counselling services. If you are in immediate distress or concerned about your safety, please contact local emergency services or a crisis support line.
There is no set number of sessions. Some students find a short period of counselling helpful, while others choose to continue for longer. The pace and duration of sessions are guided by your needs and can be reviewed at any time.
