Counselling For Maternal Burnout

Message from Sherene Chaz

Motherhood carries constant responsibility, emotional labour, and expectations. Women find themselves managing a career, household demands, and caring for others. For many women, this can become emotionally exhausting over time. Maternal burnout counselling at Serene Hour offers a supportive space for mothers to address their stress, exhaustion, and pressure without being given unsolicited advice or expectations to cope better.

Counselling support for mothers experiencing emotional depletion and burnout

For many mothers, particularly in the early years, raising children can feel all-consuming. Often women find themselves carrying majority of the mental, physical and emotional labor of caregiving with limited support. Leaving them with little time or energy to attend to their needs. Over time, this sustained load can lead to dissconnection and emotional depletion, even with rest or time away. Mothers find themselves feeling isolated, with a gradual blurring of identity beyond caregiving. Counselling for maternal burnout at Serene Hour offers a safe, trauma informed space for mothers to unpack their load.

  • Feeling emotionally or physically disconnected, or less present with yourself and others

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I know if what I’m experiencing is maternal burnout?

Maternal burnout does not always look dramatic or obvious. Many mothers continue to function, care for others, and meet daily responsibilities while feeling persistently depleted or disconnected. If exhaustion feels ongoing rather than situational, or if you notice increasing emotional fatigue, resentment, or loss of self, counselling may offer a space to explore this further.

Serene Hour is not an emergency or crisis service. If you require urgent support or are worried about your safety, please contact emergency services or an appropriate crisis helpline.

Counselling at Serene Hour is not about instruction, advice, or being told how to cope better. Sessions focus on understanding your experience, the load you are carrying, and how it is affecting you emotionally and mentally. The work guided by your pace rather than external expectations of how motherhood should look.

Counselling does not have a fixed number of sessions. Some clients find a short number of sessions helpful, while others continue longer. Sessions are reviewed collaboratively based on your needs.
