Depression Counselling

Message from Sherene Chaz

Counsellor & Well Being Facilitator

In my work with young adults, I often see how ongoing uncertainty around work, direction, and future stability can wear people down over time, contributing to persistent low mood and emotional distress. Many young adults also describe feeling disconnected despite being more connected than ever, with changing social and dating norms making it harder to form relationships that feel steady or meaningful. This can deepen feelings of loneliness, withdrawal, or emotional flatness, even when life appears functional on the outside. Depression counselling at Serene Hour is a non-judgemental space for young adults to unpack their experiences and make sense of emotional distress.

Counselling support for young adults experiencing low mood and emotional distress

Depression in young adults does not always appear dramatic or obvious. Many young adults continue to study, work, and maintain relationships while feeling persistently low, flat, or emotionally disconnected. It can be difficult to name what feels wrong, particularly when life appears functional from the outside. Experiencing persistent low mood and lack of motivation. Everyday tasks can begin to feel heavier or more effortful over time. Depression counselling at Serene Hour is a non-judgemental space for young adults to process what they are experiencing, gain clarity and learn healthy coping tools.

Shereen helped me get a clear picture of what I wanted to do and saw myself doing in the future. That gave me a lot of clarity. Most importantly she did not herself make a decision for me, rather asked me questions so I could make a decision for myself. It was a great experience!

She is a listener, definitely puts your heart and mind at ease. And she will try her best to help you out. A lot of feedback is given by her which helps in thinking from a better perspective, would definitely recommend, it is a ‘serene hour’ indeed.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I know if I should seek depression counselling?

Depression is not always obvious on the surface, particularly when someone continues to function day to day. Many young adults maintain work, study, or relationships while feeling persistently low, flat, or disconnected. If low mood or emotional distress has been lingering, or if you feel unlike yourself over time, counselling can offer space to explore this further.

It is common to feel unsure about how to put emotional experiences into words, especially when low mood feels vague or confusing. You do not need to arrive with clarity or a clear explanation. Counselling provides space to slow down and explore what you are experiencing at your own pace, with support in making sense of it as it unfolds.

Serene Hour does not provide crisis or emergency counselling services. If you are in immediate distress or concerned about your safety, please contact local emergency services or a crisis support line.

Some clients find a short number of sessions helpful, while others continue longer. Sessions are reviewed collaboratively based on your needs.
