Stress Counselling

Message from Sherene Chaz

Stress often develops gradually rather than from a single event. It can build through sustained demands, competing priorities, and the pressure to manage multiple responsibilities at once. Over time, this can affect how decisions are made, how situations are interpreted, and how individuals respond to everyday challenges. In counselling, I work with clients to understand what is contributing to this pressure and how it is being managed. Our work focuses on identifying patterns that may be maintaining stress, strengthening clarity in decision-making, and developing more sustainable ways of approaching work, relationships, and daily responsibilities.

Counselling support for young adults experiencing stress and pressure.

Stress can build gradually through ongoing demands, competing responsibilities, and sustained pressure over time. It may present as mental fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability, or a reduced capacity to manage everyday decisions. Counselling for stress provides a structured space to examine what is contributing to this pressure, how it is being managed, and where adjustments may be needed. The work focuses on understanding patterns of thinking and response, strengthening emotional regulation, and developing more sustainable ways of approaching work, relationships, and daily responsibilities.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between normal stress and something that needs attention?

Stress is a normal response to pressure and can be manageable in the short term. It may require attention when it becomes persistent, begins to affect clarity of thinking, decision-making, or day-to-day functioning, or when it no longer reduces with rest or routine adjustments. Counselling focuses on understanding what is maintaining this pattern and how it can be addressed more effectively.

Sessions involve exploring the sources of pressure, how it is being managed, and the patterns that may be contributing to it. This includes examining thinking patterns, responses to stress, and how decisions are approached under pressure. The work focuses on developing clearer ways of managing demands while maintaining consistency across work, relationships, and daily responsibilities.

Sustained pressure can affect how information is processed and how decisions are approached. Individuals may become more reactive, over-analytical, or avoidant when faced with choices. Counselling focuses on understanding these patterns and developing more consistent and effective ways of making decisions under pressure.

The number of sessions varies depending on the nature of the stress and what you would like to address. Some clients attend for a short period to work through a specific concern, while others prefer a longer engagement to examine patterns more in depth. This can be discussed and reviewed over time, based on your priorities and how the work progresses.
